SUMMARY:A Tour of Regenerative Innovation Across Alberta
DESCRIPTION:As part of this year’s AGM\, we’re pleased to screen a series of virtual field days filmed across Alberta through the Regenerative Alberta Living Lab (RA-LL). This is a provincially networked research initiative exploring how regenerative practices are being tested and adapted in real farm and ranch contexts. \nThe screening takes you on a tour of producers from across the province – including right here in CAFLA country with Brendon Anderson – before sitting down with a producer panel to hear directly from those involved. What’s working\, what surprised them\, and where they see this work going. \nCome see regenerative agriculture not as a concept\, but as a practice unfolding across Alberta\, through the eyes of the producers doing it. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Microbes\, Minerals and Myths with Dr. Don Huber\, Emeritus Professor of Plant Pathology\, Purdue University
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a thought-provoking two-part lecture series with Dr. Don Huber\, a long-time researcher and educator in the fields of plant pathology\, soil microbiology\, and nutrient interactions. Dr. Huber brings decades of academic and field experience to bear on complex questions about soil health\, plant disease\, and the unintended consequences of modern agricultural practices. \n  \nPart 1 – “Is a hidden killer lurking in your soil?” \n  \nPart 2 – “Nutrient management to control plant diseases” \n  \nWhile some of Dr. Huber’s perspectives remain debated within mainstream science\, his presentations invite critical thinking and open dialogue on issues that affect both conventional and regenerative producers. Whether you agree or disagree\, this is an opportunity to engage with ideas that challenge the status quo. \nLunch to follow! SUMMARY:Area One Farms: Expansion Partners for Canadian Farms
DESCRIPTION:Area One Farms partners with Canadian farming and ranching operations\, small to large\, to expand their land base\, improve land\, and grow their farms. Established in 2012\, Area One has partnered with over 50 Canadian farmers and ranchers to help them secure their land base and expand. Producers always have the first right to buy the land at the end of the partnership. \nJoin us April 15th for a presentation from Area One Farms to learn more about the partnerships they offer and hear from actual producers whose operations have been impacted by Area One Farms partnerships. There will be time for a Q&A and discussion following the presentation. \nRegister here.  \nAbout the producers: \nKurt Cole: \nThe Cole family has deep roots in the Brownfield\, AB area\, with a farming legacy that stretches back to 1958. For decades\, Kurt Cole and his family ran a diverse operation\, farming nearly 8\,000 acres—over 2\,000 of which they owned—while managing a herd of 500 beef cows and backgrounding an additional 500 custom steers. In 2015\, the Coles partnered with Area One\, marking a pivotal shift in their operation. At the time\, Kurt and his wife also worked off the farm\, but their daughter and son-in-law had already joined the operation two years earlier. Since the partnership\, their other two daughters and sons-in-law have also returned to the farm\, making it a true family affair. What began as an operating partnership has evolved into a long-term lease agreement with Area One\, providing greater risk management as Kurt now rents over 10\,000 acres\, including 6\,300 acres of workable land and 4\,000 acres of pasture. \nDavid Armstrong: \nDavid Armstrong\, a third-generation farmer in the Gladstone\, MB area\, has been farming since 1992. Before partnering with Area One in 2020\, David managed 8\,000 acres of cropland\, with 1\,350 acres owned. As his operation rapidly expanded\, he realized that further growth would require replacing rented land with owned land. Driven by the desire to provide his children with the opportunity to continue the family legacy\, David sought ways to expand. Since the partnership\, he has significantly increased his owned acres and converted over 2\,500 acres of brush into productive farmland. Today\, David seeds 12\,000 acres\, with 11\,000 acres owned in partnership with Area One. \n  \nRead more about Area One here: \n·    https://www.country-guide.ca/features/the-other-option-to-renting-farmland/ \n·    https://www.country-guide.ca/features/attracting-the-right-kind-of-capital-in-agriculture/ \n·    http://country-guide.ca/guide-business/investment-model-offers-opportunity-for-farm-expansion/ \n·    https://www.producer.com/opinion/have-you-ever-considered-an-equity-partner/ \n \nRegister for this free webinar today!
