Ladies Livestock Lessons

LLL is a workshop designed for women involved in or interested in the profession of managing livestock. It was developed with the goals of encouraging and educating women in the business and to facilitate the opportunity to expand their professional network. We offer hands on activities, classroom sessions and the opportunity for women to socialize and connect with other women in the industry.

The first annual LLL was held in 2007 at the Red Lodge Guest Ranch near Bowden, AB. Since then hundreds of ranching and farming women have come together at this event to learn and share their ranching experiences. LLL covers a wide range of topics related to on-farm best practices for natural resources and livestock management. Each year the organizing team ensures the topics are interesting and relevant to the current industry climate. Workshop sessions have included stock dog demonstrations, low stress livestock handling, manure management, plant identification, riparian health, livestock health and much, much more. These sessions are often presented by successful women in the industry who can speak about their own experiences and operations and share their successes and challenges in the agricultural industry.

Join us for an exciting day of learning and networking with other women in agriculture at Ladies Livestock Lessons.

This years sessions will include:

  • Wildfire Risk Reduction Strategies for Agricultural Producers
  • Impacts of Invasive Species on Native Ecosystems
  • Crack the Code – Simple Poultry Practices
  • Identifying and Treating Scours in Cattle
  • Ruminant Nutrition and Winter Feeding
